I am a bit unsure what type of material and trowel to use. Should I use acrylic mastic, thinset mortar, something else I’m not aware of? A 1/4" x 1/4" notched trowel or a V shame, not sure what size. Any information would be much appreciated.
Thank you for your help.

Kitchen backsplash ideas:Painting and Wallpapering – Update kitchen (Kitchen Backsplash Ideas)?
Just moved into a 1983 rambler. The kitchen has oak cabinets (not my favorite) beige counters, beige tile backsplash and beige tile floor. The small area above the cabinets is white and so is the ceiling. Any ideas for updating until I can replace the counters and backspash? I’ve already repaced the really bad 1980’s pulls on the cabinets. I prefer a more midcentury modern style. I’m open to any and all suggestions.
thanks,
How to update old counters to sell my house?
My house is going on the market in just a couple of weeks. We have old "harvest gold" countertops that we didn’t replace because we were going to do an addition and new kitchen. Now my husband’s been transfered so we have to sell with the old kitchen still here.
So… should I go with standard laminate (0 or so), high-res custome laminate w/ tile backsplash (0) or do I have to spring for granite/ quartz? Granite’s the "standard" in our neighborhood – as people remodel, they’re putting granite in… maybe 50% have it.
Can I cover over a tile backsplash in my kitchen?
I am starting to redo my kitchen on a very tight budget and with limited do-it-yourself skills. I have a hiddious tile backsplash behind my counter and stove. It is dented and broken in some areas. I am afraid if I try and take the tile down I will have to replace the drywall too. This is beyond my skills and I don’t think I have enough time to replace both. Is there something I could put over the tile? Thanks.
Can someone please explain?
A woman’s in her huge, remodeled kitchen with slate or hardwood floors, cherry cabinets, granite countertop and Ann Sacks tile backsplash, and stainless steel appliances. She’s cooking food she bought at Whole Foods.
Her husband walks in with a latte he bought at Starbucks on his way home from work, a commute he enjoys in his Lexus. He opens the mail to see his tickets for a cruise he’s going to take in the Carib the coming February. He flips on the 72 inch flat screen tv and watches Lou Dobbs rail about how everything is worse than it was a generation ago, and he sends his buddy a text message saying you have to watch this, Dobbs is right?????
Is it that, while he’s better off, his buddy is better off, everyone they both know is better off, they’re convinced that somewhere out there are tens of millions of people who are somehow worse off?

"When the collapse comes" – what collapse? You folks have been saying that for over 25 years now.
Shhhhhh John that Honduran housekeeper counts in the population survey conducted by the Census Bureau – which is the ONLY basis for people being able to say there are more poor people!
Um, Elway of those 45 million without health INSURANCE, more than half are immigrants from poor countries.
We import our poverty.

Help! What kind of backsplash in the kitchen would seem like just a very thin layer of white plastic?
The house was built in 1992 and we are planning to install a tile backsplash in the kitchen, but we don’t know what adhesive to use since we can’t figure out what the existing surface is. It’s like a very thin white layer of plastic over the existing wall and it runs up and behind the cupboards and down past the counter. So it wouldn’t be easy to remove. Does anyone have an idea what this would be called or what adhesive we could use for tiling over it?
I need help picking out a wall color for my kitchen.?
I am remodeling my kitchen and I have the granite picked out. It is Saphire Blue. It has a mix of colors in it…blue, black and a sandstone (orangy-brown). I also have cabinets that are a light maple color with a coffee glaze. I picked out tile for the floor and a tile backsplash that will really bring out the sandstone color in the granite. I was thinking of painting my walls a bluish gray to bring out the blues in the granite but am wondering if that is too dark of a color for a kitchen. Any advice on wall colors would be greatly appreciated. Please help!!
What color tile for my kitchen backsplash?
I have granite countertops that are black with a salmon pink marble look to it. Currently my tile backsplash is a light green, which doesn’t match at all. I’m not sure what color to go with.
My walls are painted a khaki color and the cabinets are a very light wood.
Should the kitchen backsplash and tile floor match?
The floor is a rusty orangeish gray mix, cabinets natural wood and grays and tans in the granite. I can not decide on the backsplash. Should it match the floor if it is going to be tile also? Or should it be totally different than the floor? All the pictures I see are wood floor and tile backsplash or the both are tile that are the same color.
