What makes a good servicable counter backsplash in a kitchen? ?

I love ceramic tile but think that might be too big of a project for me as I have no experience. Paint gets grease spattered as would wallpaper. I just can’t think of an easy, reasonable cost solution.

what paint color would off set my cabinets that are starting to look orange?

I’ve started a bathroom remodel and chose some honey wheat cabinets. I then added a light tan tile to the shoer and outside the shower that had an asian feel too it. The problem is that once I added the tan wall tile my walls the cabinets started looking orange. now I’m afraid to pick fitures, hardware, paint and a countertop. I need a way to tone down the orange cabinets through paint and picking a good countertop and backsplash. I was tring to get an asian contemporary look

I'm tired of wallpaper and wanted to paint my kitchen backsplash to look like metal?

I can’t afford retiling or the metal sheets and paint is a cheap alternative. The backsplash goes behind the stove and I was wondering if I painted and polyurethaned it to seal it would this be a fire hazzard or once the paint is dry is it fine?

Which type of paint to use as kitchen backsplash?

I want to use paint rather than tiles as the above-the-stove backsplash. Which kind of paint should I use? I needs to be washable and heat-resistant. Thanks.

I wanted to remodel my kitchen within 10k budget including appliances?

I mainly wanted to replace the counter and bar now made with white tiles (the sink is now facing the counter bar and breakfast nook); replace the backsplash which is now just painted white with stainless steel or decorated tiles; level down the bar to the sink level and make the widened counter as the new eatery; get rid of my breakfast nook table, and refinish or paint cabinets. The total length of my kitchen from the back of the refrigerator to the wall where the breakfast nook window is 18.25 feet. Had anyone done something similar to this in a very tight budget? Could you please provide pointers? Thank you.

How to cover my kitchen backsplash?

I am looking to fix up my kitchen bc I cannot afford a remoldel. My house was built in 1978. And is very much that style. I plan on painting my cabinets and ceilings but i have not thoroughly figured out what to do about my backsplash. It is very ugly like green agate look board my dad thinks it is melamine board ? it is very glossy and has metal edging around it. I would like to know is this something that I can sand and paint or will it reduce the protectiveness of it. If so what else could I do? and if not what to use? I like those tin tiles but find they are to expensive for my large kitchen to do all at once. being as they are like 20 bucks a square not to mention the edging and adhesive and would that adhese? I am looking for a solution for this that would last around ten years until we could do a remodel.
this is glued down on the drywall and then the counters and cabinets are installed on top or rather in front of this board

Advice or suggestions are GREATLY appreciated…. Mom is remodeling to a "50's look" diner kitchen.

My mom is redoing her kitchen in the reminisant of "50’s diner" style. We have just started to think about the design and like the bright red, black & chrome/silver look.

We are open for ideas on the type flooreing to go with. She has considered the black& white square tiles used in the day, but that seems a bit too much for her.

Also, we are stumped on the color for the paint. She has a white tile backsplash on alot of are, so its really only the eating wall the is all painted and then small areas on other walls.

Like most open floor plan houses now, the kitchen can be seen from most area in the house. Keeping that in mind, we dont want to go "crazy" into the 50’s, just with 50’s touches.

Any input is of great value.
