Kitchen backsplash ideas?
I guess it’s technically the wall splash since the tile does go about 8 inches up the wall. It’s a new house, kitchen and living room are like one big room. The living room is a light tan/almost peachy in the afternoon, with white plantation shutters and molding. The kitchen has light oak cabinets with white appliances and light tan tiles looks like travertine. I would like the style to be kind of Americana/cape cod or a southwestern feel. We tried a deep brick red and it’s way to dark…what color or any other ideas on inexpensive backsplash materials?
Kitchen backsplash ideas:Painting and Wallpapering – Update kitchen (Kitchen Backsplash Ideas)?
Just moved into a 1983 rambler. The kitchen has oak cabinets (not my favorite) beige counters, beige tile backsplash and beige tile floor. The small area above the cabinets is white and so is the ceiling. Any ideas for updating until I can replace the counters and backspash? I’ve already repaced the really bad 1980’s pulls on the cabinets. I prefer a more midcentury modern style. I’m open to any and all suggestions.
thanks,
what color of paint goes with oak cabinets?
Hi all! I am remodeling my kitchen. I have medium color oak cabinets, not too dark but not maple light color. I have ivory countertop and beige vinyl floors. I want color and I want the coffee theme. I love earth tones, warm colors. It’s also open space and next to living room area, you can see the whole area it’s very open and has light. I was thinking of painting walls red? what do you think? or an orange? I don’t know. I don’t like yellow or green so that’s a no. Another option? an accent wall maybe? we are also planning on putting beige tile as backsplash. Thanks everyone!
I also don’t know what color to paint the living room next to it. I have beige carpet and brownish beige couches so I wanted color too. Either terra cotta/orange or red maybe? I want these colors in kitchen or living room.
Feng Shui in the Kitchen, is red or black or blue really bad?
The condo that I decided to buy has oak cabinets with a natural finish and I can pick the color granite. Im leaning toward a feng shui atmosphere but I cannot figure out the best color. Would an absolute black counter and backsplash be too much? Would it look better with some red glass tile? I read that blue, black and red are bad for the kitchen in feng shui. The condo is open so the kitchen will be visible all the time. We like the reds and oranges and might do that in the living room with our brown furniture. Im lost! Help! Would red be too much in the kitchen if we plan on doing it in the living room also?

I'm remodeling my kitchen & need opinions on cabinets!?
I’m finally getting rid of my 1961 kitchen and can’t make up my mind! I have hard oak floors throughout the house..including the dining room which is open to the kitchen. I’d like to put in cork floors (& be somewhat "green" in my remodeling) in the kitchen and think it would blend nice with the oak floors (unless someone thinks of something else?) I can’t decide what would look better..maple or natural cherry cabinets. The kitchen is only 10×13 and will be putting in 40" cabinets since I have a cathedral ceiling…does cherry and oak clash? Too much natural wood tones going on? I’d like to put a apron front / farm sink in, granite countertops and tin backsplash..those I do know I want… I need a professional designer but that’s definately not in the budget. All opinions and suggestions are welcome….I have to order cabinets within 2 weeks!!! Thanks All !!
I can’t go too modern with a house full of antiques..i’m in the country and am shooting for a modern/classic/simple country feel..with stainless appliances of course. I did not want oak cabinets, but with oak floors it makes sense. it’s a starter house and resale is everything..what do people like?
