Remodeling TOGETHER . . .?

1st let me say that my husband & I get along great & are best friends UNLESS . . . we have to work on a project together. We almost killed each other moving into this house & the D word even came up which we laugh about today but it was not good. So now we’re remodeling the kitchen (flooring, countertops, new sink, backsplash) and he thinks it would be a GREAT idea to do this together. I’m a planner & researcher while he jumps right in & then the cussing & slamming ensues. Maybe a little odd for a girl but I actually used to lay tile for a living. Anyway our neighbor quoted us 00 for labor so we need to buy all the materials and do the demo ourselves which in itself is going to lead to some heated arguments I would suspect. How can I get him to go with the neighbor without hurting his feelings or making him feel like I don’t trust his work or ability? I’m the one paying for it anyway so he’s not coming out of pocket for any of this. He’s just trying to save me some money and do a project together. Or should I just be honest about the reason & tell him we simply don’t get along & I see bad things coming out of this? He’s so excited about it :-(
It’s not about the colors or design ideas. He trusts me completely with that. It’s the actual work. He turns into a demon & starts screaming at me if something goes wrong on his end. Like he’ll break something or screw something up really bad & then yell at me because he’s frustrated.
Okay maybe I need to develop a better sense of humor about this then. I guess it’s because he works from home & gets bored sometimes so a project is really fun for him while I work constantly & a project for me is just added stress & time I don’t have. I do love the man though LOL!!

Tin Backsplashes in the kitchen?

I am considering a backsplash made from tin tiles usually used for ceilings. I wanted something pretty and I thought about ceramic tile, but a lot of people have that and frankly I didn’t want the mess and expense of installing one. I found a tin ceiling manufacturer online. Does anyone have any comments or experience with using tin ceiling tiles as a kitchen backsplash?

Thanks!
I’ve priced tile versus ceramic and ceramic (including backer board and grout) is much more expensive. The ceiling tiles do not require grout or backer board. I can install the tin tiles for under 0.

The tiles are also coated to protect against rust and are finished so they are not shiney, but are white while still maintaining the tin ceiling look.

The more I think about them the more excited I am to try it out. For less than 0 if it is something I do not like I can easily change it later without feeling too guilty about the money I’ve spent.

Thanks for you ideas!!

I have a ceramic tile backsplash in the kitchen. Can i paint over this?

its all white with alternating flower/leaf pattern that is 70′ish. any ideas that wont cost big money?

how much does it approx. cost to get a kitchen tile backsplash installed?(just the installation, not materials)

i am trying to work out a budget for my kitchen redo- not sure if i should spend the money on installation or if i should do it myself.

Is this worth it?

My parents had our kitchen entirely remodeled and the total cost was over ,000, but they didn’t get what they paid for. With the original plan it should have been done in a week. The cabinets sat in our garage for over a month and it took them another 2 months to install everything. First they cut the cabinets to short, then the electrician had to come back 3 times because he didn’t do his job right. Now the cabinets are raised up on blocks of wood. The counter top had to be ripped off, which makes its integrity now questionable. And the backsplash was cut incorrectly so now there are large gaps where you can see the wall.

Pretty much everything is wrong. My parents lost wages because the company messed up the scheduling so my parents had to stay home alot. They offered 0 in store credit & my dad was insulted.

Could they sue? They didn’t get the kitchen they wanted at all.
What makes them really upset is that my grandparents gave them the money to do this as a gift and now our kitchen is totally destroyed. The company would never get back to them, update them, and my parents had to pay out of pocket costs because the COMPANY made installation mistakes!

Best color for kitchen walls, with pink tile? For a guys kitchen. No $$$?

Ok, first of all I have a small kitchen and a small budget. My house is very old and the last time the kitchen was remodeled looks like some time in the 50-60s. I just bought stainless steel appliances for the kitchen, to replace the non-working olive green 70s era ones, so there is like no money left. The cabnets are painted white, which are fine for now. The counter top is white with pink flake in the design, eww! The backsplash is all bright pink tiles. The walls are yellow. Since it will be a few years before I can remodel, and this is my first home, I would like any suggestion of a masculine color to paint the wall the would maybe make it not so bad. I was thinking a chocolate brown? Any inputs? A gallon of paint has got to be better than this ugly color scheme. Thanks for any help
