what is the best kind of backsplash to put in a kitchen?
what color and design for the backsplash would go with an apple themed kitchen? the wall color will be a light yellow. countertops is a corion material. color not determined yet. flooring will be duraceramic…color not determined yet. also, cabinets will be mission style.
Simple Kitchen Backsplash Ideas: Travertine Tile Installation?
lan to install 18X18 travertine as kitchen backsplash over existing sheetrock. Have some experience with ceramic tile in flooring and backsplash.
Should I use thinset or mastic to bond the tiles to the sheetrock?
For the bonding material recommended, what size trowel notch?
How close can I install the tiles to each other, i.e., how thin can I make the grout lines?
I suspect travertine is more fragile than ceramic. How much trouble will I have cutting openings for switches, etc? What is the best way to cut these openings?
HELP w/my Kitchen! What is an alternative countertop to granite that is just as nice, yet not as expensive?
I like granite, but it’s too traditional for me. Also, I know that a lot of people don’t consider it an upgrade anymore because it has become so popular. I want to put equity into my home and I’m not sure that in 5 yrs when I want to sell it, that granite will be as profitable then as it is now. I did here that silestone was becoming a new alternative, but I was also thinking about stained concrete countertops or butcher block. My cabinets are white and a few have glass in the doors. This will be a DIY project so any tips would be appreciated. Also, what color do you think would work best with the cabinets (paint and countertops)?
I plan on doing a neutral back splash like this or something like this, preferably the long tiles that look like stone bricks: http://www.burkesfloorcovering.com/backsplash.JPG
The floor will be a dark handscraped hardwood like this: http://img.diytrade.com/cdimg/698642/6443148/0/1216715155/Color_Wood_Dark_Brown_-Hand_Scraped_Style.jpg
or brick pavers for flooring like this:

I have also thought about doing a butcher block countertop like this, and I think it will look great with the hardwood floor:

here is a pic of the kitchen we are remodeling, none of this is my personal style, this is from when the previous owners had it:

As you can see, it is small. We plan on putting in stainless steel appliances, and getting rid of the saloon doors. My personal style is more like Anthropologie or french country or shabby chic, i love vintage stuff.
I know this is a lot of information, but I would love any input!! Especially pictures
White kitchen cabinets…?
I would like to create a cozy coffee cafe theme (simple, not busy) in my kitchen. I have stark white cabinets (that will stay). The only thing I found is the fabric for the roman shade I am making for the window… it is a brown marble background with bluish/teal 5" coffee cups throughout. I have white appliances.
My flooring is tile, light carmel/ tan color (may replace, but at a later date). The current countertop is forest green laminate (replacing), and white walls.
I would like to paint the walls a shade lighter than the bluish teal coffee cups with a darker rag wash on top so its not so "in your face". Then do a 1" square tile glass backsplash using a collection of beige-brown-chocholate colored mixed tiles with a few bluish/teal throw in to bring it all together.
Here is my question: I have no idea what to with the countertops. High Def WilsonArt Laminate (fossilrock), brushed stainless steel, copper with a patina finish.
Should I change the flooring out, if so w/what
I have ubatuba granite counters; bay window. Not sure color for cabinets or walls, or even type of floor.Help!
I’m not color coordinated and need help w/remodeling kitchen. Ubatuba granite counters & backsplash just put in. I have big bay window. Not sure what color to do cabinets or even walls. I also need to decide what to do with flooring. This is a do-it-yourself job w/me and my husband and trying to do it cost effective. Any suggestions would be awesome! THANKS!
Kitchen Color Ideas. White cabinets, beige tile floor, what color countertop/paint/backsplash?
Kitchen remodel. Painting cabinets high gloss white, installing a shiny beige marble type tile for flooring, looking at a dark gray countertop. Also hoping to do 1 x 1 light blue glass mosiac tile backsplash and paint the walls a corresponding blue color. But not really sure if all of that clashes with the beige floor. Should I be going in a different direction? Also, the rest of the main floor is a deep gold tan with red accents and mahogany furniture. It’s pretty dark. Would the kitchen clash with the rest of the house? Opinions? The only thing that is definite is the white color of the cabinets and the beige tile floor, everything else is unpurchased. Thanks in advance!!

Add: The tan paint extends from the foyer, through the dining room and living room. The kitchen and half bath are the only things on the floor that aren’t the Harvest Brown. Can I get exact examples of a color choice for the kitchen? What about the half bath?

The kitchen and half bath are the only things on the floor that aren’t the Harvest Brown. If I were to go in the sage/moss green direction, can I get exact examples of a color choice for the kitchen? There’s so many different shades, I can never tell well enough to match. Right now my half bath is white, but I would like to paint that too. Should I paint both the kitchen and bath green? I’m kind of lost there too.
Kitchen Remodeling…what to do first?
What’s the order of how things should be done? We’re getting new cabinets, appliances, countertops, backsplash and flooring.
I'm looking for virtual remodeling web sites that I can use a photo of my kitchen.?
I’ve tried sears.com, and my virtual model. I want to be able to choose paint color, backsplash, flooring, etc.
