Kitchen Backsplash Ideas?
What are some good DIY ideas for a kitchen backsplash? I’m looking for something that is also budget friendly and fairly easy to install, but will add some value to my kitchen. I was originally looking at "tin" paneling, but can’t quite find a good color match. I have antique brass light fixtures and cabinet knobs / drawer pulls and black appliances. There is currently no backsplash. Any suggestions?
Don’t forget that the reason it is called a backsplash is because of the water, grease, etc that will be splashed on it. Make sure that whatever you use will not rust or deteriorate from cleaning with detergents than you routinely use to cut the grease and so forth that accumulates on it.
I love natural stone, which can be pricey, but you’d be amazed what you can find at the big box stores in ceramic that looks like stone. We did a sunroom floor for $1 per tile. Here’s an article with some ideas — most of these can be translated on a budget, perhaps you just don’t do as much decoration or you splurge in just one area.

Start by doing a little garage sales see what’s out there. If you are unable to find what your looking for in a back splash, Try tiles, you can always use a paint sprayer to "age" the tiles instead of going for that instant antique look. Spray a chosen tile color over slightly scrubbed tiles so that the color will adhere to the tiles when the paint is still wet use a sponge to blot off the excess color, and voila! Instant antique color. When you have an area that you want to use as a back splash
Take of the top coat of paint that is in your way for better adherence of grout when you stick on the tiles.
Glass tile…go to your local home improvement store…Home Depot or Lowes…look for the discontinued items. You will get a great price for nice tile.
