What is a good estimate for paying a person to lay ceramic tile for a countertop and backsplash for a kitchen?

In Central Florida, I charge in the range of $3.85 to $6.00 per sq. ft., plus material…Or, in knowing the size, number of cuts, any other difficulty factors, I might charge $25 to $40 per hour.

You dont have enough info in your question. How many sq feet for the countertop, how many for the backsplash? Are you having a border, pattern or medallion or any other custom work done? What kind of prep work is needed (hardibacker installation, etc) And it also depends on where in the country you live.

Get 3 estimates. They are usually free. Then go with the best one. But if one is way under the other 2 don’t use that one, because they will probably not do a good job.
